FIX THE FELLS: A big thank you to all the visitors who have contributed to our footpath repair appeal. At the end of March 2008 the figure raised had reached £5,900

These funds have gone towards the repair work required on Blencathra footpaths which were badly eroded. This work is now almost complete but we shall continue to help raise funds towards other conservation projects in the area this year.

The Cumbria Tourist Board held its annual Tourism Skills Award 2003 at Carlisle racecourse on Tuesday 18th November.

Allan Carruthers who has worked at Castlerigg Hall for the past 20 years was nominated for the unsung hero category by employer David Jackson.

Tension was high in the "Oscar style ceremony" as the gold envelope was opened to reveal Allan as the winner.

"Congratulations Allan on your achievment."

The second phase of the "Campers Store" refurbishment is nearing completion and shall be open on the 13th March.

A "Made in Cumbria" stand shall provide a range of locally produced goods.

The wine and beer range has been extended with a chance to taste our very own Castlerigg Campers Ale.

As part of the refurbishment to the "Campers Store"a collection of old photographs will be on display this year. These images show the story of how Castlerigg Hall has developed from a Lakeland hill farm to a caravan and camping park.
